Monday Morning Motivation – Committed

(Sharing Resources to Help You Grow Personally, Professionally & Financially)

Sometimes it helps to get a little dose of encouragement — along with a good cup of coffee! — to start the day.

Hopefully the message below will help you get off to a good start for the week.  Please feel free to forward the newsletter on to others that you think would benefit from the content.

Committed

No, I’m not going to talk about being “committed to the home” today, but rather I’m going to take on the issue of being committed to those things that are important to you in life.

Being committed is often best illustrated by the pig and the chicken and breakfast:

  • The chicken provides the eggs. She is involved
  • The pig provides the bacon. He is committed

While it’s a bit extreme, it does illustrate the point that being committed to things requires that you be all in, it has tremendous risk, and it is not always without pain.  And, while the pig probably wouldn’t  (and shouldn’t) agree when you are committed to things it brings you incredible rewards to go with those risk.

The alternative is to be in a non-committal state.  It’s not healthy, it’s not productive, and it’s not sustainable.  It means that you won’t choose one path or the other.  However, not choosing IS choosing.  It’s choosing to NOT pursue a path.  To not be committed.  Once you acknowledge that you have made a de-facto decision to NOT do something (i.e. not commit), you are then able to move on to your new chosen path.

That brings us to this  week’s question:

  • Are you willing to take the risk that goes along with being committed?

Thanks for sharing a bit of your time with me this Monday morning and I wish you all the best for the week.

Curt

(Note:  Each week I publish “Monday Morning Motivation” in the hopes that one person will find a bit of inspiration and that inspiration will have a positive impact on their life.  My motivation comes from experiences, reading, sermons, and discussions.  For the next several months I’m going to be drawing from Zig Ziglar’s book “Over the Top”.  It’s a great source of inspiration and wisdom and I would be remiss if I didn’t give him credit up front for the motivation)
