Monday Morning Motivation – Reward

Sharing Resources to Help You Grow Personally, Professionally & Financially
Sometimes it helps to get a little dose of encouragement—along with a good cup of coffee!—to start the day.
Hopefully the message below will help you get off to a good start for the week. Please feel free to forward the newsletter on to others that you think would benefit from the content.
Reward
A lot of times life is framed in the context of “risk and reward.” In essence, if you want to get to a better place, you need to push through some sort of challenging situation.
In general, I buy into this concept. However, the place where I have begun to challenge my way of thinking is in WHAT a “reward” is. At different times, I have personally viewed all of the following as rewards:
- Praise from my parents
- A cookie (chocolate chip preferred!)
- A raise
- A new job
- A child
- Peace of mind
What is interesting to me is that over time my definition of what a reward is has changed massively. In fact, it is STILL changing, and I suspect it will change each and every day until I leave this Earth.
As my definition of a reward has changed, it follows that my definition of risk/my interest in certain activities has also changed.
That brings us to this week’s question:
- Have you figured out what rewards are important to you?
Have a great week! Thanks for sharing a bit of your time with me this Monday morning.
