Monday Morning Motivation – Accountability

Sharing Resources to Help You Grow Personally, Professionally & Financially
Sometimes it helps to get a little dose of encouragement—along with a good cup of coffee!—to start the day. Today we discuss accountability.
Hopefully the message below will help you get off to a good start for the week. Please feel free to forward the newsletter on to others that you think would benefit from the content.
Accountability
It is one thing to talk about something. It is quite different to deliver on what you talk about.
Accountability is something that comes from inside each of us. While we can work with “accountability partners,” ultimately, they are NOT responsible for what we do. We are personally responsible for what we do.
Our partners can help us see where we are at, face our actions, suggest strategies, provide encouragement, and affirm us as we make progress. However, the ultimate responsibility lies with us to take the proverbial bull by the horns and do what we say we are going to do.
While this is easy to say and comprehend, it is often difficult to put into practice due to wrong thinking. It is quite rare to find someone that commits to a task with the intention of not delivering. At the moment we make the commitment, our minds are clear on priorities and the reason for the commitment.
However, as we move forward in time, our thinking becomes clouded, and we choose options that are inconsistent with the commitment we made. We stumble in the area of accountability as we embrace the near-term distraction versus the long-term commitment. Rarely does this turn out well.
That brings us to this week’s question:
- Are you embracing accountability?
Thanks for sharing a bit of your time with me this Monday morning.
Have a great week!
