Monday Morning Motivation – Yearn

Sharing Resources to Help You Grow Personally, Professionally & Financially
Sometimes it helps to get a little dose of encouragement—along with a good cup of coffee!—to start the day. Today we discuss "yearn."
Hopefully the message below will help you get off to a good start for the week. Please feel free to forward the newsletter on to others that you think would benefit from the content.
Yearn
Some words are powerful. Yearn is one of these. When I think of “yearning” for something, big images come to mind: images of the settlers heading out across the prairie, images of young love, images of my kids, images of being out on a lake with nature all around me. These are the things that speak to me.
Each of us is wired differently, and, accordingly, each of us yearns for different things. One of my favorite books on this topic is Gary Chapman’s The 5 Love Languages. Chapman offers the following languages:
- Words of affirmation
- Acts of service
- Receiving gifts
- Quality time
- Physical touch
He argues that each of us has a particular language that speaks to us, one that we yearn for deep in our heart. I think he’s right and would encourage you to pick up the book.
It’s important—in my opinion—to recognize that the yearning we feel is part of who we are and how we are made. It’s important to take the time to find out what it is that you yearn for in your life.
That brings us to this week’s question:
- What does your heart yearn for?
Thanks for sharing a bit of your time with me this Monday morning.
Have a great week!
Curt
