What do you need to resign yourself to in your life?

Monday Morning Motivation – Resign

Sometimes it helps to get a little dose of encouragement—along with a good cup of coffee!—to start the day. Today we discuss "resign."

Hopefully, the message below will help you get off to a good start for the week. Please feel free to forward the newsletter along to others who you think would benefit from the content.

Resign

When you check out resign in the dictionary, you get two options:

  • To leave a position or job
  • To accept something that is undesirable

Both of the above normally come with negative connotations.

  • With the job, resignation is often associated with a situation that is unacceptable.
  • Accepting something undesirable is normally not a fun thing!

However, I’d encourage you to turn both of the above around/frame things a bit differently.

  • If you’re leaving a position that is unacceptable, it means that you have staked out your principles and are choosing to move on to something better.
  • If you’re accepting something undesirable, it’s often with knowledge that you can and will endure the temporary, distasteful situation to get to something more desirable.

Blindly resigning is NOT a good thing. However, consciously making a decision to either leave an unacceptable situation OR to face a temporary period of discomfort shows that you have principles and are focused on the long term.

Often, choosing to resign is one of the best things that you can do in a challenging situation. Notice I didn’t say QUITTING, I said resigning. Quitting means you’re giving up. Resigning is an active choice to face the situation on your own terms.

That brings us to this week’s question:

  • What do you need to resign yourself to in your life?

Thanks for sharing a bit of your time with me this Monday morning

Have a great week!

Curt
