Monday Morning Motivation – Persistence

Sharing Resources to Help You Grow Personally, Professionally & Financially
Sometimes it helps to get a little dose of encouragement—along with a good cup of coffee!—to start the day. Today we discuss persistence.
Hopefully, the message below will help you get off to a good start for the week. Please feel free to forward the newsletter along to others who you think would benefit from the content.
Persistence
NOTE: This week is a milestone for me! Each week I choose a word to write on; and, on occasion, I find out that I’ve already opined on the word. This week, as I started to do my writing, I came to realize that this is the THIRD time I have taken on the word “persistence.” That’s a first (the three times), and it’s a bit ironic that “persistence” is the first word that I’ve kept after repeatedly!
I am hardheaded. While some might say that this is a bad thing, I look at it as a huge positive—most of the time! In my experience, rarely do things in life come easily. Rather, you must repeatedly try and fail, try and fail, try and fail, and THEN you try and succeed.
Without persistence, you’ll get the three fails and miss out on the success.
Now sometimes it is necessary to change course; however, “doing a 180” is rarely the best course change. Rather, making small adjustments to your heading and then redoubling your effort is often a better choice. Persistence pays dividends.
Important disclaimer here: I’m NOT suggesting that, if you persist, you will succeed. However, I AM suggesting that if you do NOT persist you will NOT succeed. And if your vision of the future you want to achieve is properly crafted, I’m a HUGE proponent of sticking with the pursuit. As Jim Rohn says:
- We must all deal with one of two pains: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret.
From experience, I have come to MUCH prefer discipline over regret (although I still dabble in regret from time to time!)
That brings us to this week’s question:
- Do you make persistence a way of life?
Thanks for sharing a bit of your time with me this Monday morning.
Have a great week!
Curt
