Monday Morning Motivation – Self-Starter
Sharing Resources to Help You Grow Personally, Professionally & Financially
Sometimes it helps to get a little dose of encouragement—along with a good cup of coffee!—to start the day. Today we discuss "self-starter."
Hopefully, the message below will help you get off to a good start for the week. Please feel free to forward the newsletter along to others who you think would benefit from the content.
Self-starter
Do you like to stay in bed when the alarm goes off? How about waiting one more day until you hit the treadmill? Or what about putting off the work around the house until next weekend?
Some of us are real “go-getters” who can dive into a task seemingly without any motivation. But is that really the case? Do these super-humans that are always getting things done do so naturally without any motivation?
I’m going to argue a big “NO” here. You become a self-starter when you realize that the only person who can control you is you! Excuses are convenient. Blame gives us an easy out. Self-pity allows us to rationalize that we deserve to feel bad. But the reality is that YOU make the excuses, YOU place the blame, and YOU wallow in the self-pity
Still reading? Good! That means that I’ve likely struck a chord with you. It means that you ARE a self-starter. You probably have just had a run of “false starts” where you didn’t get out of the blocks as smoothly as you would like. But that is just fine.
Because we each have been given the gift of life AND the gift of free will, we each can choose to start whatever we would like at this moment. And, for those of you that have not heard it before, it comes down to my favorite quote from Jim Rohn:
- We must all live with one of two pains. The pain of discipline or the pain of regret.
That brings us to this week’s question:
- Are you ready to become a self-starter NOW at this exact moment?
Thanks for sharing a bit of your time with me this Monday morning.
Have a great week!
Curt
