Monday Morning Motivation – Sober
Sharing Resources to Help You Grow Personally, Professionally & Financially
Sometimes it helps to get a little dose of encouragement—along with a good cup of coffee!—to start the day. Today we discuss "sober."
Hopefully, the message below will help you get off to a good start for the week. Please feel free to forward the newsletter along to others who you think would benefit from the content.
Sober
Most people are going to think of booze when they see the word sober. But a quick trip to visit the good Mr. Webster gives another definition that I would like to talk about today:
- Marked by sedate or gravely or earnestly thoughtful character or demeanor
Wow!
Let’s break that down a bit:
- Sedate, grave, or earnest – All of these speak to a sense of calm confidence
- Thoughtful – This points to intentional deliberation in these areas
- Character or demeanor – How you carry yourself/how others see you
So, when we say someone is sober, we’re saying that he/she is easily identified by their actions as someone that is consciously displaying a calm sense of confidence.
When you dig into this, it is clear why Ziglar includes sober as one of the key characteristics of people that operate with the abundance mentality.
That brings us to this week’s question:
- Would it be worth your while to contemplate how to become a more sober person?
Thanks for sharing a bit of your time with me this Monday morning.
Have a great week!
Curt
