Monday Morning Motivation – Living
Sharing Resources to Help You Grow Personally, Professionally & Financially
Sometimes it helps to get a little dose of encouragement—along with a good cup of coffee!—to start the day. Today we discuss "living."
Hopefully the message below will help you get off to a good start for the week. Please feel free to forward the newsletter on to others that you think would benefit from the content.
Living
A few weeks ago, I wrote about humility. In that post, I highlighted 5 keys concepts to focus on as we grow in our understanding and experience of humility: dependence, respect, supernatural, virtue, and living. This of week, I will close this series of offering thoughts on the final these key traits. Hopefully, this series will be at least somewhat helpful to us as we journey forward into each week!
What motivated me to write about humility was the following definition that I came across a few weeks back:
- A personal quality of dependence on God and respect for other people. It is not a natural human instinct, but a God-given virtue acquired through holy living.
The past four weeks I have taken on the topics of dependence, respect, supernatural and virtue. This week I explore the concept of “living.”
I choose to make this one very simple:
- We judge ourselves by our intentions, others judge us by our actions.
When it comes to living, it boils down to what we are doing and NOT what we are thinking. We can think about things until we are blue in the face. But it’s not going to change a thing unless we act. Living is about acting. It is how we show who we are. It is how we show what we believe. It is about what we value.
A little disclaimer here: what goes on in your head DOES matter. In fact, our ACTIONS are a reflection of what goes on in our heads. Actually, it is even stronger than that. Our actions are a reflection of what goes on in our hearts (i.e., what we believe). That gives a couple of very nice formulas:
- Right actions, reflect right thoughts, reflect right heart.
- Wrong heart, drives wrong thoughts, drives wrong actions.
I do not profess to hold any insight as to the secret of life. I simply offer that we live out our lives through our actions, and that these actions are a reflection of what is in our heart.
That brings us to this week’s question:
- What does the way you are living your life say about what is in your heart?
Thanks for sharing a bit of your time with me this Monday morning.
Have a great week!
