Monday Morning Motivation – Acceptance

Sharing Resources to Help You Grow Personally, Professionally & Financially

Sometimes it helps to get a little dose of encouragement—along with a good cup of coffee!—to start the day. Today we discuss "acceptance".

Hopefully, the message below will help you get off to a good start for the week. Please feel free to forward the newsletter along to others who you think would benefit from the content.

Acceptance

“He’s short.” “She’s tall.” “They’re [ FILL IN THE BLANK].”

Like it or not, we are programmed to observe those around us and pass judgement on them in some way, shape, or form. Over time, as we mature, we come to realize that we have many implicit biases, and, hopefully, we “check” these biases and keep them from jeopardizing our relationships.

Acceptance: Connection without Judgement

Acceptance is about connection without judgement. It’s about embracing others for who they are, where they are currently. It is extremely easy to speak about and extremely difficult to put into place. I’ll spare you any discussion of politics, but I would offer that a quick look at the headlines or the evening news backs up my hypothesis that acceptance is NOT common at present.

Solving this problem together

The first step to solving a problem is being aware of it. Each of us has to choose between judgement and acceptance as we go through our daily walk. I’m 99.99% certain that we all know which we should do—but that does not make it easy!

That brings us to this week’s question:

  • Are you accepting those around you without judgement?

Thanks for sharing a bit of your time with me this Monday morning.

Have a great week!

Curt
