Monday Morning Motivation – Discipline

Sharing Resources to Help You Grow Personally, Professionally & Financially

Sometimes all it takes to jump-start your day is a little bit of inspiration—and, let’s be honest, a good cup of coffee doesn’t hurt either. Today, I want to share a simple yet powerful concept that has been a game-changer for me: discipline.Sometimes it helps to get a little dose of encouragement—along with a good cup of coffee!—to start the day. Today we discuss "kind"

I hope the message below gives you the nudge you need to kick off your week on the right foot. And, if you know someone who might benefit from this, feel free to pass it along!

Discipline

My favorite quote is from Jim Rohn:

We must all live with one of two pains. The pain of discipline or the pain of regret.

It’s a simple statement, but it packs a punch. Honestly, I know the second kind of pain all too well. Despite my best intentions, there are plenty of times when I can’t seem to summon the discipline to focus on what I know needs to be done. And sure enough, by the end of the day (or the week, or even the month), I’m left dealing with the sting of regret, wishing I’d chosen the harder path of discipline earlier on.

But here’s the good news: Over time, the instances of regret have become fewer, and the moments of discipline are starting to take the lead. Why? Because I’ve embraced Rohn’s words and find myself returning to them throughout the day. Now, while I don’t always make the right choice, simply keeping the concept of “discipline or regret” at the forefront of my mind helps me make better decisions in the moment.

The truth is, the choices we make today directly shape our tomorrow. And while many of those decisions aren’t easy (let’s face it, they’re often downright uncomfortable), pushing through that short-term discomfort often leads to long-term rewards. I’ve realized that when I look back on my past, I rarely regret the things I did. What I regret more often are the things I didn’t do.

This insight has been a game-changer for me when it comes to tackling those tough, unsavory tasks.

My question to you is as follows:

  • At the end of today, would you rather look back and reflect on the pain you pushed through or the action you left undone?

Thanks for sharing a bit of your time with me and have a great week!
