Monday Morning Motivation – Illusion
(Sharing Resources to Help You Grow Personally, Professionally & Financially)
Sometimes it helps to get a little dose of encouragement — along with a good cup of coffee! — to start the day.
Hopefully the message below will help you get off to a good start for the week. Please feel free to forward the newsletter on to others that you think would benefit from the content.
Illusion
My good friend Mr. Webster defines illusion as:
- Something that looks or seems different from what it is. Something that is false or not real but seems to be true or real. An incorrect idea. An idea based on something that is not true.
Each of us perceives the world around us in a certain way. That’s to be expected as we are all wired differently and that wiring causes us to process things / perceive things differently.
For me the biggest illusion that I always have to wrestle with is that of “control”. I like to think of myself as self-reliant, self-sufficient, and totally in control. Nothing could be further from the truth. Rarely am I in control or self-sufficient. Instead I am constantly relying on others – be it individuals or God to accomplish all that I do.
The irony is that the more I give up control to others – individuals and God – the more that I am able to accomplish through their help. Each passing day opens my eyes more and more to my illusion of control. For that I am grateful.
That leads us to today’s question:
- What is your biggest illusion?
Thanks for sharing a bit of your time with me this Monday morning and I wish you all the best for the week.
