Monday Morning Motivation – Oblivious

Sharing Resources to Help You Grow Personally, Professionally & Financially

Sometimes, all it takes is a little encouragement—and maybe a good cup of coffee!—to start your day off right.

I hope the message below inspires you and sets a positive tone for your week. If you find it valuable, feel free to share this newsletter with others who may benefit from it.

Oblivious

We’ve all heard the saying, “ignorance is bliss.” While there might be a hint of truth in it, this phrase has always rubbed me the wrong way. One of the greatest gifts we've been given—apart from salvation—is the power of free will. Each day, we have the freedom to choose how we approach situations, relationships, and life itself.

But here’s what really gets to me: seeing people neglect this incredible gift. Watching others ignore the power they hold to live a fulfilling life drives me crazy! And yet, I know I shouldn’t let it affect me as much as it does.

Ironically, my struggle with this issue is, in some sense, an indictment of me being oblivious in my own life! For me I have a “god complex.” By that I mean that I want to be able to control everything in my life and minimize any uncertainty. While I have been blessed with a keen mind, I take it to the extreme and focus on having to understand everything. Recently I have realized that my FALSE need to understand everything is actually about me not having faith that God is in control as opposed to me. And, until recently, I have been oblivious to this. Hence the irony—I can’t stand being around individuals who are oblivious, and yet I have been living a life of obliviousness for years!

Fortunately, I am VERY good at learning from mistakes (because I make so many and have so much practice!) This awakening to my own obliviousness has allowed me to challenge a number of things that I am doing and am not doing in my life. While uncomfortable, the impact that it has made, is making, and will make is incredible. And for that I am very grateful.

That brings us to this week’s question:

  • Is there any area in your life where you are oblivious?

Thanks for sharing a bit of your time with me this Monday morning

Have a great week!

Curt
