Monday Morning Motivation – Perspective

Sharing Resources to Help You Grow Personally, Professionally & Financially
Sometimes it helps to get a little dose of encouragement—along with a good cup of coffee!—to start the day.
Hopefully the message below will help you get off to a good start for the week. Please feel free to forward the newsletter on to others that you think would benefit from the content.
Perspective
Half full or half empty? A loss or a lesson? Leaving a job or starting a new career? Opportunity or set-back?
Today is Christmas Eve, and that make the topic of perspective particularly appropriate. While I am definitely a Christian, I would be at the front of the line of people agreeing that religion is not always a good thing.
Organized religion has been the source of some very, very ugly things over the history of time. That has caused many to move totally away from or not allow themselves to connect with their faith. I definitely understand.
This is where perspective comes into play. My thinking goes like this:
- Suppose God is real and wants to have a relationship with you.
- Suppose there are bad people that have distorted what faith is all about and created perverse structures in some organized religions.
- Why am I going to let those people get in the way of me having a relationship with God?
While I chose to frame perspective in the context of religion and faith, similar situations occur all of the time—we have something that can be either good or bad depending on how you perceive and respond to it. For me, I embrace what I have come to understand is known as a “growth mindset,” as I try to look at all situations for the opportunity they provide.
That brings us to this week’s question:
- What’s your perspective on things?
Thanks for sharing a bit of your time with me this Monday morning.
Have a great week!
Curt
