Sometimes it helps to get a little dose of encouragement -- along with a good cup of coffee! -- to start the day.

Hopefully the message below will help you get off to a good start for the week.  Please feel free to forward the newsletter on to others that you think would benefit from the content.

Caring

Last week, I wrote about the importance of being kind.  This week I take on the close cousin to kindness:  caring.

Like being kind, caring is a cornerstone of significance (remember that significance is defined as having a positive impact on the lives of others).  In my mind, caring is actually the PRECURSOR of being kind.

When we are caring, we take the time to:

  • Pay attention to others
  • Understand their situation
  • Think about how we might be able to help/support them
  • Take steps to help/support them

Caring requires that we open up our heart and seek to connect with another.  It is a wonderful trait, that I wish I had more of!

Unfortunately, all too often I don't take the time to look beyond my needs and wants.  I focus only on my personal situation.  I become uncaring.  Not fun to say, but a reality – and an opportunity to improve!

In today's fast paced world, taking time to be caring is often NOT done.  That's unfortunate as when we become more caring we become more connected.  This deepens our relationships and makes our lives more fulfilling.  And that's something that I believe we could all benefit from.

That brings us to today's question:

  • How would your life be changed if you focused on becoming more caring?

Thanks for sharing a bit of your time with me this Monday morning and I wish you all the best for the week.

Curt

(Note:  Each week I publish "Monday Morning Motivation" in the hopes that one person will find a bit of inspiration and that inspiration will have a positive impact on their life.  My motivation comes from experiences, reading, sermons, and discussions.  For the next several months I'm going to be drawing from Zig Ziglar's book "Over the Top".  It's a great source of inspiration and wisdom and I would be remiss if I didn't give him credit up front for the motivation)
