F5 Financial is a proud member of

Your CPA Files Your Taxes.
Nobody Is Watching What You'll Owe Next Year.

An accountant's job is to make sure last year's return is accurate and on time. That's compliance work, and it looks backward by design. A stock sale, a bracket change, an IRA distribution timed wrong, a state's own tax rules. Any one can move your tax bill by real money, and none of it shows up until the numbers are already final.

Each State treats retirement withdrawals, capital gains, and estates differently. A strategy that ignores those differences can leave money on the table.

Add a business, deferred compensation, or a rollover to the mix. The moving pieces now outpace what a once-a-year filing conversation with your CPA was ever designed to catch.

What It Looks Like When Done Right

When structured correctly, your portfolio has the potential to annually save thousands of dollars in taxes:

Your portfolio is structured to reduce what you owe before you make a move.

Your CPA and your financial advisor work from the same numbers, so nothing falls into the gap between who handles what.

You know how your age, tax bracket, and account mix affect your IRA and RMD exposure, years before it matters.

Your estate is structured with the tax rules of the states where it actually matters in mind.

Tax outcomes depend on your specific accounts, income, and timing. This page describes our process. It isn't a projection of your results.

Asset Review & Goal Planning

We review your current assets and financial goals and determine where you have the biggest potential to relieve your tax burden.

Tax Strategy

We develop the best strategy that ensures you’re minimizing tax liabilities on your retirement accounts, education savings, investment portfolio, estate planning, and other assets. We work with your accountant to make sure you stay on top of paperwork and filings.

Financial Projections & Quarterly Reports

We produce financial projections for your retirement portfolio and deliver quarterly reports that show how you’re tracking toward your retirement goals.

Quarterly Meetings

In addition to providing quarterly reports, we will meet quarterly to discuss changes to your income, tax code, goals and more that can impact your portfolio’s tax liability, and what moves to make to reduce future burdens.

The Financial Health Cycle™

Tax minimization is one of the components of F5's Financial Health Cycle. We run this process for every client instead of treating tax strategy as a once-a-year exercise.

It starts with a review of your goals and assets. From there, we build a coordinated strategy across your accounts and keep it current through quarterly meetings.

Why Clients Choose F5 for Tax Planning

Fee-only, always

We earn no commissions and no referral fees, so a tax recommendation is never shaped by what it pays us.

A coordinated plan, reviewed year-round

Tax strategy is reviewed quarterly alongside your investments, insurance, and estate plan, on the same calendar as the rest of your finances.

We work with your CPA, not around them

F5 coordinates directly with the accountant who already knows your return, so nothing gets duplicated or missed.

A diversified team behind every advisor

Beyond your lead CFP® professional, a broader planning team backs every review, so continuity doesn't depend on one person's calendar.

Frequently asked questions

Do you replace my CPA?

No. Your CPA handles filing and compliance. We handle forward-looking strategy and coordinate directly with them so nothing falls through the cracks.

How much could tax planning save me?

It depends on your income, accounts, and timing, so we can’t put a number on it in the abstract. What we can do is build the strategy before you make a move.

Is the first conversation free?

Yes. We start with a brief questionnaire, then a complimentary FHC Snapshot meeting with an advisor, at no cost and no obligation.

Do I need a minimum amount of assets for tax planning?

Tax planning is part of our comprehensive planning relationship, which generally starts around $1,000,000 in investable assets. If you’re not quite there yet but saving aggressively, contact us. Fit matters more than a hard cutoff.

What if my tax situation changes mid-year?

That’s what quarterly meetings are for. We revisit your income, tax code changes, and goals four times a year.

Do you prepare or file my tax return?

No. We coordinate tax strategy and work alongside the CPA who prepares and files your return. We don’t file returns ourselves.

How often will you provide a report of my tax liability and portfolio?

Information on the performance of your investments is accessible on-demand via a tool called Advyzon, which is available through your computer or an app. We also provide quarterly investment performance reports of your portfolio. These reports contain details on what investments were added or altered and the impact of each change.

Financial planning reports and projections are also available on demand through our Personal Wealth Manager tool, powered by eMoney Advisor. It’s accessible from your computer.

Quarterly, we provide a single-page action plan and financial projections that detail completed tasks, tasks in progress, and outcomes.
