Those of you that spend much time around me often remark that they do not know how I can always be so apt to see the positive side of any situation.  Some have even gone so far as to use the term "naïve".  Perhaps.  Perhaps not.

My disposition is taken from having faced numerous challenges over the course of my life.  Rarely have I found that "negativism" has been helpful in overcoming the obstacles I encounter.  To the contrary, I have repeatedly been amazed at the power of positive thought has on the outcome of a situation.  The power of positive thought has served me well at work, at play, at home, and in my faith.  My experience with this phenomenon is not unique.  One of my favorite quotes is attributable to Colin Powell -- "Perpetual optimism is a force multiplier".  Put another way, there is no limit to what one can achieve when they believe.

My challenge to each of you is to ask "why not" when you next face a challenge that seems unsurmountable.  My experience tells me that if  you ask "why not" you may be surprised at what outcome emerges...
