For what do you have reverence?

Sometimes it helps to get a little dose of encouragement—along with a good cup of coffee!—to start the day. Today we discuss reverence.

Hopefully the message below will help you get off to a good start for the week.  Please feel free to forward the newsletter on to others that you think would benefit from the content.

Reverence

When I looked up the definition for reverence I found:

  • Deep respect for someone or something

What a powerful word—especially in light of the world we are currently living in! To me, reverence is one of the most powerful concepts of which I can think. It is fundamental to what we believe and how we behave.

We each have free will and make choices/decisions every day on what we will and will not do. In so doing, we reflect who or what we respect. In a sense, we are offering reverence every moment of every day through our thoughts and actions.

Unfortunately, all too often I find myself in a situation where my thoughts and actions do NOT align. While I profess to hold a principle or concept dear, my actions are inconsistent with or directly opposed to the same concept. As a perfectionist, this can drive me nuts, as I want to have perfect alignment at all times!

That, however, is unrealistic. There was only one perfect Man to ever walk this Earth, and I ain't Him! What I can do is take time to (i) fully define what I value in life, (ii) reflect on how I am living out those values, and (iii) make a good faith effort each day to do better— than I did the previous day—at living in alignment with my values.

If I accept this process, I can and will grow personally, professionally, and spiritually.

That brings us to this week's question:

  • For what do you have reverence?

Thanks for sharing a bit of your time with me this Monday morning.

Have a great week!

Curt
